EVOTEQ Deploys AI-Powered Surveillance System For Bee’ah’s Landfill Security Management admin December 09, 2020

EVOTEQ, the UAE’s leading providers of digital solutions, has successfully launched EVOTEQ Smart Surveillance, an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted surveillance and oversight system in response to the growing demand for modern asset surveillance and monitoring solutions. This advanced system has been deployed at the Middle East’s sustainability pioneer Bee’ah’s92-hectare Al Sajaa landfill to provide world-class security and incident management.

The EVOTEQ Smart Surveillance sets a new industry standard in facility security management with advanced capabilities, including a network of AI-enabled and thermal detection smart cameras, next-generation machine learning algorithms and an integrated autonomous drone system. This innovative solution secures extensive grounds through real-time monitoring, identifying and analyzing potential hazards before they escalate.

A landfill site has several unique security requirements, from controlling site access and securing sophisticated machinery to monitoring environmental variables and ignition points among others. EVOTEQ Smart Surveillance replaces the traditional security approach of utilizing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and physical staff patrolling the grounds, through a digitalized, reactive and cost-effective solution.

Jihad Tayara, CEO, EVOTEQ, said: “EVOTEQ Smart Surveillance is an advanced and customized digital solution, and is the result of extensive consultations with Bee’ahto understand the challenges at hand and subsequently design a solution in a collaborative fashion. With this offering, a single security staff member is fully empowered to monitor the site through the support of smart AI-powered systems, incident detection machine learning algorithms and the ability to react to incidents before they develop.

Daker El-Rabaya, CEO – Waste Processing & Treatment at Bee’ah, said: “Our partnership with EVOTEQ, the region’s leading technology firm, demonstrates our commitment to harnessing the latest technologies to enhance our processes, increase security and vigilance while enhancing the capabilities of our workforce.  This new solution is also aligned with Bee’ah’s twin-pillared strategy to combine sustainability and digitalization to realize new efficiencies, value-added offerings and continue to raise the quality of life for the communities we serve across the Middle East.”

EVOTEQ has deployed a network of over 90 smart cameras at Bee’ah’s Al Sajaa landfill site, such as license plate reading cameras at entrance and exit points that only allow access to approved vehicles; thermal cameras installed at specific, high-importance zones that detect anomalies in temperatures and AI-powered thermal and motion detection cameras that offer 360 degree-surveillance of vast areas that are all remotely connected to a control center. The smart cameras are also equipped with backup solar-powered batteries to allow for greater flexibility and mobile redeployment.

EVOTEQ has also piloted the use of an autonomous aerial drone system, which is self-charging and provides 24/7 monitoring of the landfill site through thermal, night vision and motion detection. The system alerts the operations team of unusual movements, intrusions or sabotages within the site and its perimeters. Providing an additional layer of security, the autonomous drones are also automatically dispatched when an incident has been detected by the smart cameras.
