GITEX 2019: Siemens Showcases IoT Tech To Unlock Potential Of Smart Cities And Industry admin October 06, 2019

During GITEX Technology Week in Dubai (October 6-10) Siemens will be demonstrating how cities and people can benefit from the digital transformation, embracing the Internet of Things to intelligently connect energy systems, buildings, industries and city infrastructure.

The highlight of the Siemens presence is the Expo 2020 Dubai model, shown for the first time in the Middle East. The interactive model is a physical representation of how Siemens is using a combination of smart building technologies and cloud-based IoT technology to create a blueprint for a future smart city. Users can experience how data from Expo 2020 Dubai’s infrastructure is captured, stored and analyzed to make intelligent decisions in order to maximize energy efficiency, visitor comfort and security. Visitors to the Siemens booth will also be able experience the smart city application which Siemens is building specifically for Expo 2020 Dubai, using the company’s cloud-based IoT platform for the Internet of Things, MindSphere.

“At GITEX 2019 we’ll demonstrate how the Internet of Things can have a positive impact on both economy and society, by building increasingly digitalized and connected cities and industries,” said Franco Atassi, Head of Smart Infrastructure, Siemens Middle East. “Supporting this, we’re pleased to have launched our IoT-enabled Smart Office Suite for the first time in the region, for a digitalized, data-driven approach to optimizing workspaces for employee and building performance. Our partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai also plays a large role in our presence at GITEX, showing how we’re using IoT technologies to develop a blueprint for future smart cities, creating better urban spaces for both people and the environment.”

During GITEX, Siemens has announced the launch of its IoT-enabled Smart Office Suite for the first time in the Middle East. The suite is a complementary portfolio of Siemens technologies designed to create smarter, more flexible, human-centric working spaces. It enables office buildings to respond intelligently to user input and environmental data, using real-time analytics to adapt to the needs of employees for increased productivity, energy efficiency and cost reduction.

As part of its Digital Industry offering, Siemens will also be demonstrating how key regional industries such as oil and gas, refining and petrochemicals, water and wastewater and food and beverage have great potential to embrace the digital revolution. Industry 4.0 technologies such as MindSphere can empower regional manufacturers to be faster, more efficient, flexible and higher quality while creating increasingly individualized products.

Siemens will also have available at its booth a team from IoT Consulting, able to assist customers in creating their unique digital journey. IoT Consulting employs a holistic approach to developing individually tailored strategies, working with customers to create, plan and deliver end-to-end solutions along the entire IoT value chain.

Mendix, the world’s leading low-code application development platform for the Internet of Things, will also be represented. Mendix, acquired by Siemens, enables applications to be built ten times faster with 70 percent fewer resources compared with traditional development approaches. It supports different skillsets of developers from business-oriented developers with no software development skills, to very experienced technical developers.
