Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX), a leader in private, hybrid and multicloud computing, announced that it hosted a successful virtual Database Summit for customers and organisations looking to modernise data operations and simplify database management. The event delivered insights and best practices from customers and experts on their journey to DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service) and took place on June 15.
“Modern workloads place a significant demand on databases which legacy environments can’t keep pace with. When coupled with at-the-minute development, growing security issues, and the proliferation of the hybrid cloud, existing database structures are under extreme pressure,” said Andrew Brinded, SVP & GM EMEA at Nutanix. “In this discussion, we unpacked how customers are increasingly turning to DBaaS solutions that offer them cloud efficiencies and flexibility, but with the operational and security oversight they have grown accustomed to from existing database implementations.”
As data explodes and organisations tune into the business value they can derive from it, challenges relating to the inflexibility of legacy databases become apparent. Today’s users demand malleable database management tools, database integration capabilities, and improved data accessibility across applications and development teams. This two-hour event offered attendees a view of real-world examples and an in-depth discussion on how customers leverage DBaaS to drive efficiency and performance in the hybrid cloud and beyond.
Leading the user conversation Dominic Maidment, Technology Architect Total Gas & Power, covered legacy modernisation and database automation. Robert Nelson, Information Technology Department from Kuwait Investment Company, shared his experience on modernising critical core banking applications in the cloud era. Exclusive sessions exploring the open source DBaaS journey were spearheaded by Peter Zaitsev, founder and CEO, Percona, Álvaro Hernández founder and CEO, Ongres and Piyush Saxena, Global Hybrid Cloud Head, HCL.
Keynotes covering industry best practices and current business experience were delivered by Tony Baer, Founder & CEO, DbInsight and Monica Kumar SVP Marketing, Nutanix, Andrew Brinded, VP & General Manager EMEA, Nutanix and Jeremy Launier, Senior Direct, Product Management.
The Nutanix Solution for databases delivers consumer-grade ease of management and delivery, operational efficiency, agility, and scale to handle even the most demanding workloads on a single cloud-ready software platform.
At this exclusive Database Summit, attendees were provided with a perspective on how the modern business is driving economic advantage by accelerating the database transformation journey.
