HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), praised RTA’s obtaining the Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Label. Thus, the RTA has become the first government entity to win this accolade for the second straight year.
“RTA is always keen to roll out new CSR initiatives and support all programs of the Dubai Government in various scientific, educational, social, humanitarian and economic fields. Realizing these objectives is part of RTA’s continuous efforts to enhance its profile and social responsibility besides bringing happiness to people,” commented Al Tayer.
“Achieving this Label for the second year in a row culminates RTA’s efforts at the local level, highlighted by many CSR initiatives, such as ‘Read More’ initiative, which had benefited more than half a million people, and the ‘Meals-on-wheels’ initiative which serves 5,000 meals to public transport users in Ramadan.
“We have also got a set of ongoing initiatives, such as the Audio Kiosk, in support of People of Determination to facilitate their cultural and cognitive integration. We have run a short-story contest to unearth their innovative skills, and customised an array of our services to make them more accessible to this segment,” he added.
Al Tayer made these remarks when accepting the Dubai Chamber CSR Label Certificate from Yousef Al Rida, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector. Also in attendance were Ms Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication as well as the team of the Corporate Identity and CSR Section at RTA.
Commenting on the event, Yousef Al Rida said, “RTA has mapped out a comprehensive strategy to deliver its duty towards all spectrums of the community, including students, special needs, elderly, etc. As a major government entity, that understands the humanitarian activities and fully aware of its CSR, RTA is keen on taking part and contributing to local community events.
“RTA is moving on the right track to enhance its role in this regard through plans and strategies tailored to the needs and aspirations of the community,” concluded Al Rida.
