The \u201cOnline Safety Habits & Online Learning\u201d discussion took place on Wednesday, 17 February 2021, with key speakers;\u00a0Selim\u00a0Edde, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy in MENA at Google Arabia,\u00a0Akef\u00a0Aqrabawi, INJAZ Al-Arab President & CEO,\u00a0HE Dr. Tarek\u00a0Shawki, Minister\u00a0of Education\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Egypt,\u00a0HE Youssef\u00a0Belqasmi, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research\u00a0\u2013 the Kingdom of Morocco,\u00a0Mr.\u202fNasser Muhammad\u202fSaleh\u202fDawood,\u00a0Advisor to the Office of the\u202fMinister of Education\u202fand Higher Education\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Qatar,\u00a0Shahd\u00a0Attar, Managing Director at\u00a0the Ministry of Investment\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Saudi Arabia,\u00a0Razan\u00a0Bashiti, CEO of INJAZ\u00a0UAE\u00a0and moderated by Tamer Zumot, Regional Head of Partnerships\u00a0& Strategic Development\u00a0at INJAZ Al-Arab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pandemic has seen consumer behavior shift online, with almost two-thirds of the overall Middle East and North Africa (MENA) population becoming digitally active especially via their mobile phones and tablets.\u00a0 Children, many of whom are experiencing distance learning\u00a0went from the classroom to remote learning \u2013 significantly increasing the time spent online and the risks associated with lack of awareness about the tools and skills needed to stay safe online and protect their\u00a0privacy\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commenting on the successful event,\u202fINJAZ Al-Arab CEO,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Akef<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Aqrabawi<\/strong><strong>\u00a0said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cOur strategic partnership with Google stems from our commitment to ensuring the youth in the MENA region are well-equipped with the necessary tools and skills to tackle the challenges they are presented with. We want to enhance their understanding of the tools they have at hand, not only so they are able to navigate distance learning, but to provide them with the knowledge and resources that would enable\u00a0them\u00a0to receive optimum learning, while ensuring their safety and digital well-being.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLearning how to stay safe online and how to be a responsible digital citizen are skills that are incredibly important for everyone, especially youth. Our partnership with INJAZ Al-Arab is in\u00a0response to the growing role\u00a0technology is playing in\u00a0supporting education, as more and more children and youth learn remotely.\u00a0This is why\u00a0it\u2019s important for us to work together to equip youth and teachers with the necessary tools so that they can stay safe online and\u00a0explore the web with greater confidence and learn more about how to be responsible digital citizens\u201d\u00a0said Selim\u00a0Edde, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy in MENA at Google Arabia.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partnership between Google and INJAZ\u00a0aims to train over 26,000 students across the Middle East and North Africa on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/g.co\/abtalinternet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google\u2019s\u00a0Abtal\u00a0Al Internet<\/a>\u00a0program, which\u00a0helps provide youth between the ages of 7 and 13 with the necessary knowledge regarding the basics of digital citizenship, online\u00a0safety\u00a0and privacy\u00a0so that they can explore the online world with confidence. The partnership between Google and INJAZ Al-Arab comes as a response to digital technology increasingly playing a larger role in the daily lives of people, and the importance, especially for students, of education on how to navigate foundational technologies. INJAZ Al-Arab and Google established a partnership in 2018 on\u00a0The\u00a0\u201cMaharat\u00a0Min Google\u201d initiative which reached and impacted more than 200,000 students across the Arab\u00a0speaking world, between the ages of 16 to 25.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel discussion included a display of the work mechanism of the INJAZ program\u00a0in light of\u00a0the Coronavirus pandemic and the importance of extracurricular programs for Arab youth in the region. This was followed by a joint panel discussion between representatives from both Google and INJAZ Al-Arab.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INJAZ Al-Arab is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to overcoming unemployment in the region and aims to inspire a culture of entrepreneurship and business innovation among Arab youth.
