{"id":15980,"date":"2021-09-26T12:19:30","date_gmt":"2021-09-26T12:19:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web3unplugged.io\/blog\/?p=15980"},"modified":"2023-08-18T07:06:38","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T07:06:38","slug":"three-day-uae-national-robot-olympiad-competition-kicks-off-from-october-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web3unplugged.io\/blog\/three-day-uae-national-robot-olympiad-competition-kicks-off-from-october-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Day UAE National Robot Olympiad Competition Kicks-Off From October 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Over 800 students from across the UAE\u2019s education ecosystem of Private and Public schools, Charter Schools, and universities are gearing up to battle it out over three days in the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uaetoday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">UAE<\/a> National World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The virtual competition will be held between October 1-3 and will challenge 308teams on their robotics and STEM subject skills and knowledge in three categories. Seven winning teams will go on to represent the UAE at the international World Robot Olympiad in November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the thirteenth year that the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has organized the WRO National competition which aligns with the UAE strategy to build a competitive knowledge-based economy. The skills that students hone over the course of the competition, include not only critical robotics and STEMskills,but also soft-skills such as creativity,communication, collaboration and critical thinking, skills that all students are required to develop as we continue to see the rapid digital transformation of global business and industry,\u201d said Her Excellency Khuloud Al Dhaheri, ADEK\u2019s Executive Director &#8211; Education Partnerships Sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teams of up tothree members and a coach will submit their video entries to be evaluated by a panel of 38judges who were selected based on their competency from 92 candidates to assess teams\u2019 entries against the RobotOlympiad\u2019s strict judging criteria, ensuring that each team had abided by the competition\u2019s principles and code of ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s theme; \u2018Powerbots; the Future of Energy\u2019challenges teams in three categories to use robotics to solve real-life problems including how to make home energy consumption more efficient, provide solutions for charging electric cars, help manage the energy mix on the national grid, and design self-driving cars that use sensors to avoid obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the \u2018Regular\u2019category, students aged8 to 19 years are tasked to design, build and program robots to solve specific challenges within a set timescale. The \u2018Open\u2019category is a project-based competition where students create an innovative intelligent robotics solution relating to the season\u2019s theme.In the \u2018Future Engineers\u2019 category, students aged 15-19 will be tasked with designing a model car, equipping it with electromechanical components, and programing it to successfully and autonomously navigate an obstacle track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wish all our young and talented participants the very best of luck, and we look forward to seeing the innovative and creative solutions they provide for the series of challenges they are up against.
