On one hand, advanced economies in the region are leading the way in 5G and smart living, and on the other hand, in\u00a0Africa, around 0.84 bn<sup>[1]<\/sup>\u00a0people (out of 1.37 billion) still remain to be connected. A thriving digital economy can add\u00a0~$230 billion\u00a0to the region\u2019s annual GDP.<sup>[2]<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with its strategic focus on the MEA region and its purpose of transforming billions of lives through digital networks, STL has been strengthening its presence in MEA. The company had recently announced a<strong>\u00a0$100 Mn order book\u00a0<\/strong>that included\u00a0multi-year, multi-million dollar deals. STL recently set up a centre of excellence in\u00a0Dubai, which will integrate R&D, product development and operations to cater to the unique needs of the region. Additionally, STL is enhancing its team strength to drive network build-outs in MEA. The company recently onboarded\u00a0<strong>Gavin Faulds\u00a0<\/strong>as the Business Head, MEA. With more than 25 years of experience, he has handled multiple portfolios for brands like Oman Fiber Optic Company, Dimension Data (NTT) and Corning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>STL\u2019s expansion efforts will be further driven by technology and market experts with deep domain expertise. The company recently onboarded\u00a0<strong>Wael Mohamed<\/strong>\u00a0from National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority,\u00a0Egypt\u00a0and Ciena,\u00a0<strong>Ahmer Arsalan<\/strong>\u00a0from Optiva and Nokia,\u00a0<strong>Ala El Hakawati\u00a0<\/strong>from Ericsson, and\u00a0Nokia Siemens,\u00a0<strong>Floriano Mendes<\/strong>\u00a0from Ericsson and\u00a0<strong>Nawal Elmazozi<\/strong>\u00a0from Reichle & De-Massari (R&M).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commenting on STL\u2019s expansion plans in MEA,\u00a0Sandeep Girotra, Head-Global Sales, STL,<\/strong>\u00a0said, \u201cSTL is taking major strides in the region with its industry-leading solutions.
