The UAEU Science and Innovation Park Google \u200eInnovation Hub has organized a “Line \u200eFollowing\u201d competition for UAEU students from \u200evarious colleges, which lasted for two weeks, \u200eunder the supervision of an academic committee \u200eand a jury.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Ahmed Murad, Associate Provost for \u200eResearch, said that such events enhance the \u200ecapacity-building and skills and develop \u200einnovative and creative talents among students \u200eduring their university life. It also contributes to \u200ediscover talents that the university makes efforts \u200eto develop so that the students can acquire \u200eexperiences required to start a working life with \u200equalitative academic experiences after \u200egraduation. The university administration \u200eanticipates prospects, within the national \u200estrategic plans, in the next fifty-year era, in which \u200eplans, and programs will be able to meet and keep \u200epace with the requirements of the times, develop \u200eteaching and learning methods, and improve the \u200eoutputs of research. He added at the same time \u200ethat robots and their design are among \u200enecessary future skills that engineering, and \u200einformation technology students must acquire,\u200eand that help find technological solutions to life \u200echallenges and contribute to improving the \u200equality of life.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, seven different teams participated to \u200epass the competition three stages. In the first \u200estage, the teams program the robot in the form of \u200ea car to follow the zigzag line to reach the first or \u200esecond end line in a certain time. In the second \u200estage, the robot passes from start to finish end \u200ewithout collision. Finally, in the third stage, the \u200eteam programs the robot using a mobile phone or \u200eiPad by following the line.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition also included a presentation of \u200ethe best robot design, which was won by the \u200eASIL team, while Eagle team won the main robot \u200ecompetition, which is “Line Following “, won the \u200efirst place.
